These global patterns resonate with findings from the region.<\/p>\n<p>In Saudi Arabia, women\u2019s participation at work has surpassed Vision 2030 targets, now standing at 36.2%, and 45% of SMEs are led by women. Persons with disabilities make up around 5.9% of the Saudi population. While the employment rate among this group has improved (from 7.7% in 2017 to 12% in 2020), high unemployment persists, especially for women with disabilities (75.3%).<\/p>\n<p>Labayh\u2019s internal DEI survey revealed a generally positive perception of diversity in the workplace, especially regarding visible diversity in leadership. However, issues emerged around equity in promotions, professional growth, task distribution, and awareness of reporting mechanisms for bias. Nearly 40% of respondents felt there was unequal access to growth opportunities, and many expressed uncertainty about whether DEI policies were clearly communicated or enforced.<\/p>\n<p>The report concludes with actionable strategies to enhance DEI, emphasizing leadership accountability, inclusive hiring, structured evaluations, ongoing training, and support for Employee Resource Groups. Effective DEI practices not merely fulfill a corporate responsibility but create a meaningful competitive advantage by positioning organizations to better understand and respond to diverse markets and global challenges.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Labayh\u2019s Survey on DEI<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Labayh Business recently conducted a pilot study to explore the state of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Saudi labor market. This initiative aligns with Labayh&#8217;s broader commitment to enhancing workplace well-being in the Kingdom. The study aimed to gather preliminary insights into how organizations in Saudi Arabia are addressing DEI, recognizing the growing importance of inclusive practices in fostering a thriving work environment.<\/p>\n<p>This section presents the findings of our workplace diversity and inclusion survey, which aimed to assess employee perceptions across various aspects of organizational inclusivity. The survey gathered responses from 47 participants and provides valuable insights into the current state of diversity and inclusion within our organization. The survey collected demographic information related to job status, tenure, and gender.<\/p>\n<h2>Demographics<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Job Status:<\/strong> The majority of respondents identified as full-time employees. Specifically, 43 out of 47 participants reported being in (full-time) position, indicating a strong representation of this employment category in our survey. A smaller portion identified as (part-time), with 3 participants. The Kingdom now aims for a <strong>40%<\/strong> participation rate by 2030 .&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Youth Engagement<\/strong>: Among Saudi women aged 15\u201324, labor force participation increased to <strong>18.0%<\/strong> in Q3 2024, indicating growing engagement of young women in the workplace.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Entrepreneurship<\/strong>: Women lead <strong>45%<\/strong> of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Saudi Arabia, highlighting their significant role in the nation&#8217;s entrepreneurial landscape.<\/p>\n<h2>DEI &amp; Disability in Saudi Arabia<\/h2>\n<p>As of 2022, individuals with disabilities constitute approximately <strong>5.9%<\/strong> of Saudi Arabia&#8217;s population, equating to around <strong>1.35 million<\/strong> people out of a total population of 32.17 million, among these, <strong>2.9%<\/strong> experience severe difficulties, with <strong>visual impairments<\/strong> being the most common single difficulty (46.02%), followed by <strong>physical disabilities<\/strong> (29.13%) among those with multiple difficulties.<\/p>\n<p>The employment rate for individuals with disabilities has seen an increase from <strong>7.7% in 2017<\/strong> to <strong>12% by the end of 2020<\/strong>, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Arabia&#8217;s Vision 2030, despite this progress, unemployment rates remain high: <strong>75.3%<\/strong> for women with disabilities, compared to <strong>32.8%<\/strong> for women without disabilities. <strong>48.6%<\/strong> for men with disabilities, compared to <strong>11.5%<\/strong> for men without disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Saudi labor law mandates that companies with 25 or more employees allocate at least <strong>4%<\/strong> of their positions to individuals with disabilities.
